I smiled as I walked over to Argy's stall. We needed some practice to get ready for Canada, and I heard that Eric Lamaze was going to be there with one of his new horses from the Ireland grand prix team.
"Argy!" I laughed as I saw Argy's chestnut head out of the stall, slobber all over the door. "I told you not to eat ha while you are still drinking water!" I said and grabed his new yellow nylon halter, and matching lead rope.
I talked to him in the cross ties, taking my time to make him look pretty. Even taking the time to braid his mane in a running braid, before I tacked him up in his usual schooling tack, which was similar to his showing.
"Lets go." I said easily, and we went to the outdoor, grass arena, (The arena in Canada was grass) and I had set up the same course before I went and got Argy- but some of the jumps were taller than me...so it was hard.
"Lets go." I said and I mounted him from the fence post, knowing that 16'3 hands of bulk, and horse where to tall for me to mount from the ground.
I walked him two laps (which was a lot for the grand prix sized arena) before I trotted him with momentum.
After our warm up or walking, trotting, cantering, ect. I took on the course with him. It was quite challenging. I had to keep Barr (one of the stable hands) on hand to put up one of the jumps polls. I kept at it until both Argy and I were cover e in sweat.
"One more time." I told Argy easily.
We cantered/galloped the course again-finally with a clean round, and good time.
"Yes!" I cried as we cantered around the arena after Barr had yelled the time to us.
"Okay! Um, do you mind changing the course a little bit? I want to try a few other things. A few courses for shows after the one in Canada." I said.
Barr nodded. And I walked Argy around the arena.
