SAMMI "Chill," I said sharply to Chief. I led him out of the barn that he was suddenly scared of to the arena outside. I swung open the gate and closed it quietly before walking Chief a lap to calm down. I halted him in the center facing away from the barn, being conscious of how much he enjoyed her stall. I stuck my foot in the stirrup of the dressage saddle and swung on. He raised her head and spooked but I was prepared and sat deep in the leather. I made him stand still while i collected my reins before tapping his sides. He pranced foreword but I got him to walk. After about four laps of a walk, he started to calm down. After hhe was completely relaxed, I asked him to trot. He went foreword, his neck arched. I could feel his collection and I loved his gait. I sat smoothly in the saddle as he did a working trot down the sides of the arena. After a few laps around the large arena, I walked him. He walked calmly. I turned him down the diagonal and between the rail and X, I asked for a trot. I sat to the smooth, collected trot before asking for a canter past X, halfway to the opposite rail. He cantered on the correct, right lead and turned smoothly to the right as we continued at a canter. |

I hardly noticed the girl that walked in until Chief snorted as we came around the arena. I sighed and let him trot. "Just stay our of our way. We have shows to practice for," I said shorty, but not necessarily rudely as I passed the other rider.

Fair is fair, I suppose. I rose and fell to Chief's gait before performing a sitting trot and turning to do a ten meter circle.

We circled a jump and went the other way when he spazzed. Bolting, he threw a few good bucks. I pushed my heels down and forced him to trot.
Silly pony.

Chief pranced sideways as the other horse bucked. "Chill," I snapped quietly at him, shoved him back to the wall with my leg. "Please control your horse," I said as I continued.

I cantered a figure eight, preforming a simple lead change in the center.

I sat to his gait guiding him through circles and spirals. I got his back end under himself but left some slack in the reins.
