I my spare barrel reins clipped to Missy's halter and looked over at Wesley.
"You're going down Crawford." I grinned. Missy pranced under me, understanding what was coming next.
The four of us (Missy, me, Wesley, and Elissa) stood by the gate to the pasture, both Wesley and I rode our horses bareback with reins clipped to their halters.
Wesley laughed. "In your dreams, Schulz." He dueled back.
"Oh yeah? We'll see about that." I grinned deviously. "First one to that tree out there wins."
"Agreed. On the count of three."
"One, two, three!" We counted out loud. When we said three, I kicked Missy's sides and she shot off, throwing bucks of excitement.
I let Wesley and Elissa get a good length in front of us. When we were about two thirds of the way to the tree, I let Missy go all out. Her long legs stretched out and ate up the ground. Soon we reached Wesley and he looked a bit shocked to see us.
We were almost there! Missy was pulling ahead of Wesley and Elissa but I couldn't deny it Elissa was a fast horse. In the end Missy was just a nose ahead of Elissa.
"I won!" I grinned at Wesley.
"Whatever!" He looked over a me. "Elissa hasn't been worked in a while."
I rolled my eyes. "Sure, that's it." I whacked the back of his head.
"What was that for!?"
"Just checking to see if you still have a brain in there." I smiled sweetly.
He rode Elissa closer and punched my arm.
"Oh Crawford!! You are SO going to pay when we get back to the barn!" I glared at him.
"Oh shit." He turned Elissa and started going back. "Gotta catch me first!"
I tapped Missy and she went off again with me laughing like a hyena on her back. We caught up to the other pair as they were going through the gate. I slid off of Missy and went through as well.
When we got into the barn I went over to Wesley, grabbed his arm, twisted it and started bending it backwards.
"I'm sorry!" He gave a little yelp of pain and I let go satisfied.
